The queen measures 17-19 mm in size, while the workers range from 5-9 mm and majors range from 10-17 mm. They have a red-brown body color. Size

The species exhibits a distinct color pattern, with the mesosoma (the middle section of the body) and legs of the majors and smaller workers being uniformly red-brown. These body parts are always lighter than the black to dark brown head and belly.
