Year-round shipping across Europe and the UK

Other ant shops stop shipping when it gets too cold or too hot. We do not. ANTonTOP ships live ants 12 months a year, because every order leaves Poland in seasonal thermal packaging matched to the destination weather. Winter orders include a 72-hour heat pack that keeps the queen above 18 °C even when outdoor temperatures drop below freezing. Summer orders include a cool gel pack and ventilated packaging that hold the queen below 28 °C through heat waves.

Inside Poland we ship via InPost parcel locker (1 to 2 business days). Across the EU and to the United Kingdom we ship via DHL (2 to 3 business days for EU destinations, 4 to 7 business days for the UK). No import paperwork is required from you. Live arrival is guaranteed in every destination.

Direct from a Polish ant breeder, not a reseller

ANTonTOP is one man, one workshop, and 330+ live ant species raised in-house in Poland. Most queens in our catalogue are wild-caught after their nuptial flight, then founded and raised under controlled conditions until they are stable enough to travel. We ship only healthy colonies. Sick or weak queens never leave the facility.

Questions about a specific queen go straight to the breeder by message, and replies come back within 24 hours, often within minutes.

What defines a tropical ant

Tropical species evolved in stable warm climates with no winter cycle. They thrive at 24 to 28 °C, prefer 60-80% humidity in the arena, and never need a hibernation regime. The colony grows year-round, often faster than European species which slow down in autumn-winter.

Popular tropical species in our catalogue

  • Camponotus nicobarensis — orange and black tropical carpenter, beginner-friendly.
  • Camponotus singularis — orange-headed Asian giant, the iconic display species.
  • Polyrhachis dives — silk-weaving spined ant, arboreal nester.
  • Pheidole noda — fast-growing big-headed ant from southeast Asia.
  • Odontomachus species — trap-jaw ants with the fastest mandible strike in the animal kingdom.

Tropical ant care basics

Temperature: 24 to 28 °C with a heat mat on one side of the nest. Humidity: 60 to 80% in the arena, 50 to 70% in the nest. Diet: sugar source daily, protein 2-3 times per week. Tropical species do not enter diapause — keep the lights, the heat, and the food consistent year-round.

What every live ant order includes

  • The living queen or established ant colony you ordered, in a humid test tube or transit container.
  • Insulated mailing box with seasonal heat pack or cool pack matched to your weather.
  • Species-specific care sheet covering temperature, humidity, feeding, and housing.
  • Tracking number with door-to-door visibility, sent on dispatch day.
  • Live arrival guarantee paperwork and clear claim instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Do tropical ants need hibernation?

No. Tropical species evolved in stable warm climates and have no winter rest cycle. Keep the colony at 22 to 28 °C year-round.

What temperature do tropical ants need?

24 to 28 °C is ideal for most species. A small heat mat on one side of the nest creates a gradient the workers use. Avoid heating the entire formicarium uniformly.

Are tropical ants harder to keep than European species?

No — many are easier because there is no hibernation regime to manage. They do need stable heat and humidity, which a heat mat and damp arena cover.

Do you ship tropical ants in winter?

Yes. Every winter order includes a 72-hour heat pack that keeps the queen above 18 °C in transit. We have shipped tropical species reliably for nine winters.

What is the best tropical ant for beginners?

Camponotus nicobarensis. Robust queens, fast growth, easy feeding, no hibernation, and visually striking workers.

How long does delivery take?

1 to 2 days inside Poland. 2 to 3 days to Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium. 3 to 5 days to other EU. 4 to 7 days to the United Kingdom via DHL.

Do tropical ants live as long as European ones?

Queens of large tropical species often live 15 to 20+ years. Workers vary by species. Camponotus tropical queens can outlive European queens of the same genus.

Can I keep multiple tropical species in one room?

Yes, in separate formicariums. Tropical species accept the same room temperature, so a single heat source can warm multiple setups.

Do tropical ants eat the same diet as European ants?

Mostly yes — sugar source and protein. Some tropical species accept fruit jelly and honey water more readily than sugar water. Harvester ants of tropical origin still take a seed mix.

Do you ship tropical ants to the UK?

Yes — via DHL in 4 to 7 business days, no paperwork from your side. Live arrival guarantee covers UK addresses.
