Honey-Flavoured Ant Jelly — Carbohydrate Feeding Cup for Ants

Honey-flavoured jelly cup. Insect jelly cups are the convenient way to deliver carbohydrate to your ant colony. Each cup contains a soft, sugar-based jelly with added flavour, vitamins, and humectants — the texture is firm enough to hold its shape in the arena but soft enough for ants to access and consume.

Specifications

  • Type: insect jelly cup, carbohydrate food
  • Flavour: honey
  • Volume: single-use cup (~16 g typical)
  • Use: ant feeding (carbohydrate source)
  • Origin: imported, originally designed for beetles — fully suitable for ants

How to Use

Peel the foil lid. Place the open cup in the arena. Most species find it within hours. The cup will last 2–4 days before drying out — replace when the surface hardens. For larger colonies, place multiple cups; for very small founding colonies, use a teaspoon of jelly on a small dish.

When to Use Jelly

Jellies are a year-round carbohydrate option for ant colonies. They are the cleanest, lowest-maintenance carb food — no spillage, no sugar puddles, no ant drownings. Use as the primary carb source between honey or sugar-water feedings, or in addition to a varied diet for omnivorous species.

FAQ

Is it safe for ants?
Yes. Designed for insect feeding (beetles, ants, stick insects). No artificial preservatives that harm ants.

How long does one cup last?
2–4 days in the arena depending on colony size and ambient humidity.

Will all ant species eat it?
Almost all carbohydrate-eating species (Camponotus, Lasius, Formica, tropical species) will accept it. Strict granivores like Messor prefer seeds.

Does it attract pests?
Sealed cup is fine. Once opened in the arena, keep the arena closed to prevent fruit flies.
