Adult ants run on sugar that powers foraging, colony activity and brood care, while protein builds new workers. Honey is among the purest and most readily accepted carbohydrate sources there is, and a 10 ml dropper goes a long way because every feed is a single diluted drop. It shines in the founding stage, when a lone queen and her first workers want easy energy without the mess of a larger feeder.

Keepers raising a founding queen or a small colony who want a dependable, well-accepted first food, plus anyone topping up the carbohydrate side of a bigger colony’s diet. It works for Camponotus, Lasius, Formica, Pheidole, tropical species and more.

Dilute one drop in a little water and offer it in a drinking dish or on a clean feeding spot — never undiluted, since raw honey is sticky and can trap small workers. Refresh it regularly and wipe away residue to keep the feeding area clean and free of mould. Feed year-round, more during active growth and brood-rearing, and ease off during winter rest for hibernating species.

Keep the dropper sealed and stored at room temperature. Because you dispense one drop at a time, a single bottle lasts. Clean the feeding dish between feeds so old residue does not draw pests.
