Jelly Food White Protein – Brood-Feeding Cup for Ants
A protein insect jelly cup – the same convenient sealed format as our carbohydrate jellies, but packed with protein for brood-rearing instead of carbohydrate for adult workers. The soft white paste is made for colonies in active brood production. Originally made as premium beetle jelly, fully ant-safe.
Specifications
- Type: insect jelly cup, protein food
- Colour: white soft paste
- Cup: single-use, approx. 16 g
- Shelf life: about 4–7 days in the arena; up to a month refrigerated after opening
- Use: brood feeding (protein source)
- Brand: ANTonTOP
When to Use
Protein drives larval development – carbohydrates fuel adult workers, but larvae need protein to grow. Offer it during the active brood phase (spring–summer for temperate species, year-round for tropical ones), or alongside carbohydrate jelly for a balanced colony diet.
How to Use
Peel back the foil and set the cup in the outworld or on a feeding dish. A cup stays good for about 4–7 days; replace it every 3–5 days, and refill more often for colonies raising lots of larvae. Remove any leftovers to keep mould and mites away.
Compatibility
- Suitable for most omnivorous and carnivorous ant species – and harvester ants like Messor will take it for brood protein alongside their seeds
- A clean alternative to live insect feeding
- Combine with our carbohydrate jellies for a full diet
What’s in the Box
- 1 × Jelly Food White Protein cup, single sealed cup
FAQ
Does it replace live crickets?
Mostly – it is a clean, convenient protein supplement, though some species still benefit from the odd live prey item.
How do I store it?
Sealed cups keep for months. Once opened, keep the cup in the fridge and use it within about a month.
Will harvester ants like Messor eat it?
Most omnivorous and carnivorous species take it readily, and harvester ants such as Messor will also feed on it for brood protein alongside their seeds.
How long does a cup last?
About 4–7 days in the arena. Replace it every 3–5 days, or sooner for colonies raising heavy brood.
