Grain Set Medium – Mixed Seed Food for Harvester Ants
Medium grain set for growing harvester ant colonies. The same balanced blend of small seeds – millet, poppy, sesame, flax and other grains – that workers husk, store and mill into the “ant bread” that feeds the brood. A mid-size pack for colonies past the founding stage.
Specifications
- Size: Medium
- Contents: mixed grains (millet, poppy, sesame, flax and others)
- Suitable for: growing / medium harvester colonies
- Treatment: natural seeds only, no chemical treatment
- Brand: ANTonTOP
When to Use
Year-round as the staple food for harvester ants past the founding stage. Keep a steady supply; granivores store seeds and self-regulate their intake. Same blend as our Small and Large packs – only the quantity differs.
How to Use
Place a pinch of seeds in the arena or near the nest entrance. Workers carry the grain to storage chambers (granaries) inside the nest and mill it into “ant bread” for the brood. Remove old or damp seeds before refilling to prevent mould.
Compatibility
- For harvester species in our ant catalogue (Messor, Pogonomyrmex, Aphaenogaster, Veromessor)
- Pair with our carbohydrate jellies during the brood-rearing phase
What’s in the Box
- 1 × Medium grain set, mixed seeds
FAQ
Will non-harvester species eat it?
Mostly no. Omnivores like Camponotus and Lasius prefer carbohydrate jelly and protein.
What is the difference between Large, Medium and Small?
Only the quantity – the seed blend is identical. Large for big colonies, Medium for growing ones, Small for founding colonies.
How long does it store?
Over a year when kept sealed and dry.
