Description
A few founding queens on the go? Tube Holder 5 keeps them upright and sorted: a rack for 5 test tubes (up to 16 mm) on a steady, anti-tip base, so tubes don’t roll, colonies don’t tip and you don’t mix up which queen is which. Tough plastic that wipes clean and disinfects between colonies, fitting standard ant-keeping and lab tubes. The right size for a small, growing collection.
Keep your founding queens tidy and upright — add one to your setup.

Tube Holder 5 — test-tube rack for a small, growing collection
This test-tube rack holds up to 5 tubes of up to 16 mm standing on a single anti-tip stand. If you’re keeping a few founding colonies or running a handful of queen-observation tubes, it stops the small daily annoyances before they start: tubes don’t roll across the desk, no colony ends up on its side by morning, and you don’t have to squint to remember which tube holds which queen. Brood stays readable and colonies stay separated. It ships from Poland with tracked EU, UK and worldwide delivery.

Why a rack at all
Founding queens live in test tubes for weeks or months, and a tube lying loose on a desk is a colony waiting to roll off or get knocked. A rack fixes each tube in place so you can read the brood without picking it up, keep colonies plainly apart and never confuse two queens. It’s the small, inexpensive upgrade that makes a few founding colonies easy to keep.
Who it’s for
The right size for keepers with a small but growing collection — a handful of founding colonies or observation tubes they want tidy and visible on one stable stand. Five slots fit a hobbyist who has moved past one or two queens but isn’t yet running a breeding bench. Outgrow it, and the Tube Holder 10 offers the same design with ten slots.
Setup and care
Stand each tube of up to 16 mm in a slot with the cotton plug and water reservoir facing you, label the tubes, and set the rack somewhere quiet and out of direct sun. The weighted base holds 5 full tubes steady, so the row stays put when you lift one to inspect or feed. Between colonies, pull the tubes, wipe the rack down and disinfect it before reloading. The plastic reuses season after season with nothing carried over and nothing to wear out — keep it dry when idle and it lasts indefinitely.
Pairs well with
Founding-stage test tubes, cotton wool for plugs, a syringe for refilling water reservoirs and soft tweezers. As founding colonies grow and move into their first nests, the rack frees up for the next round of queens.
