Description

Warm amber-jasper gravel that reads like sun-baked sandstone. A chunky 1.5–8 mm mixed grade adds the kind of texture flat sand can’t, and the colour is bonded to the stone, so misting and spills won’t bleed onto the glass. Inert, washed and colony-safe. One 8×4×2 cm bag tops a 10×10 to 20×10 cm arena. Best in desert, arid and Egyptian builds.

Yellow decorative stones for ant arenas

Yellow decorative stones bring a desert-rock warmth that sand on its own can’t. The grade is a chunky 1.5–8 mm mix of natural rock, washed and finished in a warm amber-jasper tone that catches the light. The colour is bonded to each stone, so it stays put when you spray the arena or a drinking dish overflows. Supplied in an 8×4×2 cm bag, sealed and shipped from Poland with tracked EU, UK and worldwide delivery, and safe in direct contact with the colony.

What the warm tone does

The coarse grain breaks up a flat surface, catches light and gives the scene texture, so the build looks intentional rather than thrown together. That sunlit amber reads as sandstone and desert rock, which is why it carries arid and Egyptian themes and sits so well over pale sand floors. The stones are inert, so they leave arena chemistry and humidity alone.

Who it suits

Display keepers and hobbyists building a desert, arid or Egyptian arena who want a warm accent that survives misting and cleaning. It works with any kept species, since it sits on the surface as decor rather than something the colony lives in. Against a sand floor it adds a sunlit highlight; in a darker layout it warms the whole scene.

How to use it

For an accent, scatter about 0.5–1 cm of stones over a fine sand or quartz base. For a path, lay them in a strip linking feeding, nesting and decor zones. As a primary floor, spread them where you want a coarse, rocky texture. One thing to plan for: at 1.5–8 mm the grain is far too large to tunnel, so treat the stones as surface decor and keep fine sand or a nest wherever you want real digging.

Pairs well with

Yellow or natural quartz sand for a cohesive desert floor, or layer them over any colour in our 13-shade coloured-sand range. They sit well beside our miniature landmarks — sphinx, pyramids — and moss stones, and mix with other decorative-stone colours for multi-tone beds. Drop an acrylic or 3D-printed drinking bowl onto the firm surface to finish a feeding station.

FAQ

Are they safe for ants?
Yes. Natural stone with a non-toxic, fixed colour, safe in direct contact with queens, brood and workers.

Will the colour bleed when wet?
No. It is bonded to the stone, so spraying, condensation or a spill won’t transfer colour or stain the glass.

Will my ants dig in them?
No. At 1.5–8 mm the grain is too large for tunnelling. Use them as surface decor over fine sand.

What themes do they suit?
The warm amber tone suits desert, arid and Egyptian arenas and complements sand-coloured floors and sandstone decor.

How much does one bag cover?
The 8×4×2 cm bag tops roughly a 10×10 to 20×10 cm arena. Use more bags for a deep primary floor.
