Description
A colony outgrows its first nest faster than most beginners expect, and the Spoko is the sensible place it lands next. This mid-size acrylic ant nest (20 × 15 cm) gives a colony heading toward 800 workers the room to spread: two humidity chambers, a long 20 cm arena, passive micro-perforation airflow and a 9 mm chamber height for most popular species. Capacity 200–800 workers.
Give a growing colony its next home — order the Spoko.

Formicarium Spoko — a mid-size acrylic ant nest for a growing colony heading toward 800 workers
A colony outgrows its starter nest faster than most beginners expect, and this mid-size acrylic ant nest is built for the step that comes next. The Spoko (20 × 15 cm) fills the gap between a compact first home and a large one — sized for a colony that has left its founding nest behind and is building toward a few hundred workers and beyond. Two humidity chambers and a generous 20 × 6 cm arena keep it comfortable through that stretch, with a 9 mm chamber height that suits most popular species. Capacity runs 200–800 workers. Precision laser-cut from 3 mm acrylic, made in Poland, and shipped with tracked EU and worldwide delivery.

Why the Spoko works
The growth phase, a few hundred workers, is when colony behaviour gets really interesting: organised foraging, brood piles and a clear division of labour. The Spoko gives that stage the room it needs without jumping to a nest too big to keep clean, with two humidity chambers holding a stable climate as numbers climb. The two latches open the nest in stages, so keep the colony in part of it at first and let it spread as the worker force grows — a snug start keeps the nest cleaner and more humid than an oversized one.
Humidity and care
Add water to the two sponge chambers through the 3 mm ports with a syringe once or twice a week; it spreads passively between the layered acrylic sheets, holding an even moisture gradient the colony can choose from without wetting the ants. There is no spraying to do; top up before the sponges dry and never flood them, since over-watering is the most common cause of mold in a growing nest. Laser-cut micro-perforations run through arena and nest for continuous airflow without drafts, so clear leftover food promptly.
Setup and escape protection
The Spoko arrives clean and ready. Peel the protective film from both faces for clear walls, connect a tube if joining a test tube or outworld, fill the humidity chambers and populate. The fitted acrylic lid, arena walls and latches keep workers contained; for tiny or climbing species, a thin band of anti-escape fluid around the arena rim adds security.
Pairs well with
A drinking dish or feeding plate keeps food off the substrate, protein and carbohydrate jelly covers steady nutrition, soft tweezers handle brood and food, and a syringe makes watering simple. Tubing connects a larger nest or an arena from our formicaria range when the Spoko fills up. Dress the long arena lightly with sand, a stone or moss — keep it easy to feed and clean.
FAQ
Who is the Spoko for?
Colonies that have outgrown a starter nest and are growing toward around 800 workers.
How many ants does it hold?
Around 200–800 workers; the 9 mm chamber height fits most popular species.
How do I add water?
Through the 3 mm ports with a syringe, once or twice a week, into the two sponge chambers — keep them lightly moist, never flooded.
What are the two latches for?
They open the nest in stages so the colony always has the right amount of space as it grows.
Can I expand later?
Yes — connect a larger nest or arena by tube when the colony grows.
How is it shipped?
Dispatched in 24 h from Poland with tracked EU and worldwide delivery, year-round with heat or cool packs and a live arrival guarantee.
