Formicarium Test Tube Arena – the simplest complete starter setup
Every colony starts somewhere, and this is the easiest place to begin. The Test Tube Arena pairs a classic 15 mm test tube – the humid, enclosed home a founding queen needs – with a compact acrylic box that gives her first workers a small foraging area. Everything is in one unit, ready to use immediately, with nothing to assemble beyond placing the tube. Made in Poland.

Why the Test Tube Arena
A founding colony does best in a small, humid space – exactly what a water-charged test tube provides. The Test Tube Arena adds a tidy little foraging box so you can feed and water without disturbing the queen, all for the price of an entry-level accessory. It is the simplest, safest way to start.
Who is it for
It’s made for a single queen with her first workers, or any newly founded colony. When the colony grows, you simply connect it to a larger nest and let them move across on their own.
How it works
Plug the test tube with a cotton ball and half-fill it with water. The cotton holds the water back and keeps the inside of the tube warm and humid – the perfect founding microclimate. The colony lives in the tube and forages in the little arena outside.
Care and feeding
Drop small amounts of food into the arena and let the workers collect it. When the water in the tube runs low, swap in a fresh water-charged tube. Keep the arena tidy and the setup looks after itself.
Expansion – when and how to grow
When the colony outgrows the tube, connect the 8 mm or 10 mm port to a modular nest or arena. The ants move into the new space at their own pace – no stressful handling of the queen.
Delivery and support
Shipped year-round with heat or cool packs and a live-arrival guarantee – DHL across the EU, InPost in Poland, EMS worldwide. New to ant-keeping? The ANTonTOP team keeps ants too and is glad to help you start.
Did you know?
The test-tube setup is how almost every ant-keeper begins – a queen in a tube is the classic first step, and watching her raise her first workers is what gets most people hooked.
