Who this kit is for
Breeding Kit 4 is a hardware bundle – everything around the colony, but without the colony itself. It’s for keepers who already have a queen, whether transferred from a test tube or caught during a local nuptial flight, and want a complete, ready-to-use setup without buying ants. It’s also a smart way to prepare in advance of nuptial-flight season, so the home is waiting the day you catch a queen.
The large modular 20×20 nest and arena
A large 20 × 20 cm modular nest with 9 mm chambers, eight lockable entrances and four latches for staged expansion, plus a matching 20 × 20 arena. The largest standard modular nest we make – open it in stages so a colony settles before it spreads out, and connect more modules later. Made in Poland.
Sand, decorations and tools
Three bags of quartz sand, three decorations, a feeder with jelly food, a screwdriver, tweezers, a magnifying glass for close observation, and a thermometer to monitor the setup. Everything is included to set the scene and run the colony day to day, so there’s nothing else to buy to get going once you add your ants.
Setting it up
Assemble the formicarium, moisten the humidification chambers, connect the nest to the arena, and lay a thin bed of the included sand across the arena floor with a few decorations. Connect the arena to the nest where applicable, then it’s ready for a colony. When you introduce your queen or colony, keep the setup warm and quiet and let them settle in their own time.
Add a colony from our range
Don’t have a queen yet? Pair Breeding Kit 4 with a living colony from our catalogue – browse the live ant species, or if you’d rather have everything in one box, our complete kits include the colony, formicarium and food together. This large modular setup suits a serious, growing colony and expands further with more modules.
A gift for an ant keeper
Breeding Kit 4 makes a strong gift for someone who already keeps ants – an upgrade, a second home for a growing colony, or a complete setup waiting for the next nuptial-flight catch. It’s the kind of present an ant keeper actually wants, and it arrives ready to use. For a complete beginner or a child, a kit with the colony included is the easier gift; Breeding Kit 4 is for the hobbyist.
Delivery
We ship year-round, securely packed to protect the acrylic and any gypsum or substrate in transit. Inside Poland we send via InPost parcel locker, across the EU via DHL, and we deliver to other European countries too. A tracking number is sent on dispatch day. Every part is quality-checked before it leaves us – if anything arrives damaged, contact us and we’ll replace it.
Built to last, not a throwaway
This is proper ant-keeping hardware, not a novelty. The acrylic is the same 3 mm layered stock we use across the ANTonTOP range, made in Poland, with real humidification and screw-locked access rather than a loose clip-on lid. Buy it once and it serves a colony for years – and connects to the rest of our modular range as the colony grows.
Frequently asked questions
Is the 20×20 too large to start a colony in?
Use the four latches – start with one section open and expand in stages. A small colony in a fully open 20×20 nest will not settle, so staged expansion is the right approach.
Does this kit include ants?
No. It is a hardware bundle – formicarium, arena, sand, accessories and food where listed, but no live colony. Add your own queen, or buy a colony from our range.
What if I do not have a queen yet?
Many keepers buy a breeding kit to be ready before nuptial-flight season, so the home is waiting. Or pair it with a colony from our live ant species or a complete kit.
Is the hardware guaranteed?
Yes. Every part is quality-checked and securely packed. If anything arrives damaged, contact us and we will replace it.
How long does delivery take?
1 to 2 days inside Poland (InPost), 2 to 3 days to Germany, France, Netherlands and Belgium (DHL), and 3 to 5 days to other European countries.
