Red decorative stones for ant arenas
When you want drama on the arena floor, red is where the range gets loud. These are natural rock chips in a chunky 1.5–8 mm mix, washed and finished in a bold jasper-red — one of the most striking shades on offer. The colour is bonded to each stone, so it holds when you spray the arena or a dish spills. Supplied in an 8×4×2 cm bag, sealed and shipped from Poland with tracked EU, UK and worldwide delivery, and safe in direct contact with the colony.
What red brings to the scene
Fine sand reads as a flat backdrop; a scatter of red stones breaks the surface, catches light and gives the eye something to hold, so the arena looks designed in one move. Red carries volcanic, lava-rock and high-contrast layouts, and it throws pale ants and brood into sharp relief. The stones are inert, leaving arena chemistry and humidity untouched.
Who it suits
Display keepers and hobbyists after a colour accent that survives misting and cleaning. It works with any kept species, since it is surface decor, not something the colony lives in. Run dark ants like Camponotus or Messor over a light floor and the red adds a graphic punch; in a darker scene the stones read as embers and rock.
How to use it
For an accent, scatter about 0.5–1 cm over a fine sand or quartz base. For a path, lay a strip linking feeding, nesting and decor zones. As a primary floor, spread it for a coarse, rocky texture underfoot. Bear in mind the grain is far too large for tunnelling, so use fine sand or a dedicated nest wherever you actually want digging.

Are they safe for ants?
Yes. Natural stone with a non-toxic, fixed colour, safe in direct contact with queens, brood and workers.
Will the colour bleed when wet?
No. It is bonded to the stone, so spraying, condensation or a spill won’t transfer colour or stain the glass.
Will my ants dig in them?
No. At 1.5–8 mm the grain is too large for tunnelling. Keep fine sand or a nest for digging.
How much does one bag cover?
The 8×4×2 cm bag tops roughly a 10×10 to 20×10 cm arena. Use more bags for a deep primary floor.
Can I mix colours?
Yes. Mix red with other decorative-stone colours, or layer it over quartz sand from the 13-shade range.
