Ultra-Soft Tweezers – Maximum-Gentleness Brood Handling
Ultra-Soft Tweezers are the gentlest handling tool in the ANTonTOP range. Where standard Soft Tweezers are safe for larvae and workers, the ultra-soft variant takes this further. The tip material and pressure profile are designed for the most fragile brood stages – eggs, very young larvae (L1 / L2), and freshly eclosed workers whose cuticle has not yet hardened. If you keep species with particularly delicate brood, or perform close inspection and transfer of early-stage brood regularly, these are the tweezers to use.

When to Choose Ultra-Soft Over Soft
For most brood handling – pupae, older larvae, workers – standard Soft Tweezers are sufficient. Choose Ultra-Soft when you are working with eggs and very early-stage larvae that are extremely fragile, when handling brood of small species (Pheidole, Tetramorium) where workers are tiny and easily injured, and when performing detailed brood inspection where any pressure at all is too much.
How to Use Them
Grip near the joint for fine pressure control. Approach the brood from the side, not above – let the soft tip slide under the larva or egg, then close gently and lift. The aim is to support, not pinch. If you feel resistance, you are pressing too hard. Move the brood to its destination at the same height – do not lift higher than necessary.

Care & Maintenance
Wipe with isopropyl alcohol between species. The silicone tip pads degrade with harsh detergents and prolonged heat – clean by hand only, never put them in a dishwasher or boil them. Store dry. Replace the tweezers if the silicone pads visibly crack or harden.

Soft vs Ultra-Soft – what is the practical difference?
Soft is safe for most brood and live ants. Ultra-Soft is for the very softest material – eggs, L1 / L2 larvae, freshly eclosed workers. If you only handle pupae and older larvae, Soft is enough.
Can I use them on adult workers?
Yes, and they are the safest choice if you need to grip a fragile worker – small species, newly hardened workers, or injured ants you are relocating. For routine adult-worker handling, standard Soft Tweezers are quicker.
Will the silicone tips wear out?
Over years of regular use, yes – silicone slowly hardens. Inspect annually and replace when the pads no longer return to shape under light pressure.
