Description
Eggs and L1/L2 larvae have almost no structural strength, and freshly eclosed workers are softer still. Ultra-soft tweezers (12 cm), with padded silicone tips and the ANTonTOP logo on the grip, are tuned for exactly that material: gentler than our standard soft pair, for the brood too fragile for anything else. Stainless body, wipes clean with isopropyl alcohol.
For the brood too delicate for any other tool.

Ultra-soft tweezers — maximum-gentleness handling for eggs and early larvae
Ultra-soft tweezers (12 cm) are the gentlest handling tool in the ANTonTOP range. Standard soft tweezers are already safe for larvae and workers; the ultra-soft pair goes further, with a tip material and pressure profile tuned for the most fragile brood: eggs, very young L1/L2 larvae, and freshly eclosed workers whose cuticle has not yet hardened. The stainless-steel body carries soft silicone tip pads, the grip is ergonomic and marked with the ANTonTOP logo, and they wipe clean with isopropyl alcohol between species. Ships from Poland with tracked EU, UK and worldwide delivery.
Why go softer than soft
Eggs and the youngest larvae have almost no structural strength, so even the gentle grip of standard soft tweezers can be too much at that scale. The ultra-soft tips apply less pressure across an even softer contact surface, supporting delicate material rather than compressing it. For tiny workers of small species, and for pale, freshly eclosed adults, that extra margin is the difference between a clean transfer and an injury.
When to choose ultra-soft over soft
For pupae, older larvae and workers, standard soft tweezers are enough. Reach for ultra-soft when you handle eggs and very early larvae, when you keep small species such as Pheidole and Tetramorium where workers are tiny and easily hurt, and for detailed brood inspection where any pressure at all is too much. They are also the safest choice if you ever need to grip a fragile or injured adult worker for relocation.
How to use them
Grip near the joint for fine pressure control. Approach the brood from the side rather than above, let the soft tip slide under the larva or egg, then close gently and lift. The aim is to support, not pinch. If you feel resistance, you are pressing too hard. Move the brood at the same height and do not lift higher than necessary.
Care and maintenance
Wipe with isopropyl alcohol between species. Harsh detergents and prolonged heat degrade the silicone pads, so clean by hand only — never boil them or put them in a dishwasher. Store dry, and replace the tweezers if the pads visibly crack or harden.
Pairs well with
Standard soft tweezers for routine pupae, older larvae and workers. A magnifying loupe for inspecting eggs and early larvae. A glass founding tube and a heating mat for the founding stage. ESD anti-static tweezers when static charge is a concern in dry winter air.
FAQ
Soft versus ultra-soft — what is the practical difference?
Soft is safe for most brood and live ants. Ultra-soft is for the very softest material: eggs, L1/L2 larvae and freshly eclosed workers. If you only handle pupae and older larvae, soft is enough.
Can I use them on adult workers?
Yes, and they are the safest choice for a fragile worker: small species, newly hardened adults, or an injured ant. For routine adult handling, standard soft tweezers are quicker.
Will the silicone tips wear out?
Over years of regular use, yes. Inspect annually and replace when the pads no longer return to shape under light pressure.
Are they safe for eggs?
Yes, that is exactly what they are built for. The ultra-soft tips support eggs and L1/L2 larvae that are too fragile for standard tweezers.
Do you ship outside the EU?
Yes. We dispatch from Poland with tracked delivery across the EU, the UK and worldwide.
A note on care: each item is built for a specific job — please use it only as intended. Responsibility for correct, safe use rests with the keeper; ANTonTOP accepts no liability for misuse or damage from improper use.
