Description
Sized for the smallest of beginnings. The Drinking Bowl Type 2 Small runs roughly 2 × 2 cm, 3D-printed, its textured walk-in floor giving even callow workers a grip on the way out. A thin film of water rests in the base, so a founding colony drinks with nothing deep to fall into. It takes water, sugar water, diluted honey or liquid jelly, and tucks neatly into a corner.
The safe first water dish for a brand-new colony.

Drinking Bowl Type 2 Small — 3D-printed ant water and feed dish (≈2 × 2 cm)
The Type 2 Small is the nano version of our square walk-in dish, roughly 2 × 2 cm and 3D-printed. With just a queen and her first workers, you cannot afford to lose any to a deep cup or a sodden cotton plug. The water stays a shallow film and the floor is textured print rather than smooth glass, so even the smallest callow worker gets traction climbing out. Made in Europe and shipped from Poland, with tracked delivery across the EU, UK and worldwide.

Why the textured walk-in floor matters
Tiny ants drown most easily, and a founding colony has no spares. The base holds only a film of water, and the printed floor grips where polished surfaces let a worker slip. It will not foul a test-tube nest the way a cotton plug does once it starts to mould.
Who it’s for
The Small suits founding colonies, test tubes and nano arenas, and the early life of any new colony. As the colony grows and moves to a larger arena, the Medium (≈3 × 3 cm) or Large (≈4 × 4 cm) Type 2 gives more drinking surface.
How to use it
Set the dish in the outworld a little away from the nest entrance so the living area stays dry. A few drops of clean water cover hydration; for feeding, use sugar water, diluted honey or liquid jelly. Refresh every couple of days. It stays useful as the colony grows.
Pairs well with
Stand a cup of Flavoured Ant Jelly beside it for carbohydrate and add Blanched Whole Crickets or Cricket Jam for protein as the brood develops. Add the Medium and Large Type 2 dishes when the colony moves to a bigger arena.
FAQ
Is it safe for a tiny founding colony?
Yes. The shallow floor and sloped walls let the smallest workers drink and climb out without drowning.
Will it fit inside a test tube or nano setup?
Yes. At ≈2 × 2 cm it sits in small outworlds where larger dishes would not.
Should I size up later?
As the colony grows, the Medium (≈3 × 3 cm) or Large (≈4 × 4 cm) gives more surface.
Can I feed liquid food in it?
Yes — sugar water, diluted honey or liquid jelly. Set solid jelly cups beside it.
Why does the colour differ from the photo?
We print these in assorted colours and ship what is in stock. The shade varies; performance does not.
Is the plastic ant-safe?
Yes, a durable ant-safe plastic. Rinse before first use.
Do you ship outside Europe?
Yes. Dispatched from Poland within 24 hours with tracked EU, UK and worldwide delivery.
