Mount Rushmore miniature — American landmark resin decoration for ant arenas and formicaria
Unlike the buildings in the range, Mount Rushmore is a cliff face, four presidents carved into rock, and that changes how it behaves in an arena: instead of walls and arches you get ledges and slopes. At 5 × 2 × 3 cm it sits low and wide, which suits arenas where a tall tower would feel cramped, and it pairs naturally with rocky décor for a Black Hills or mountain look.
What the colony does with it
The carved face gives ants ledges to climb and slopes to traverse, and larger colonies often adopt it as a route or a perch. Its broad, grounded profile makes it the anchor of a mountain scene rather than a single spike. Larger arboreal species like Camponotus and Polyrhachis use it most. The resin is inert with no harmful coatings, so the colony works the cliff freely. Set it against contrast — pale sand below the darker resin, or the reverse — and the four faces read cleanly from the front.
Fits your setup
Any arena format from roughly 20 × 20 cm upward takes it, from a compact Ziom or Comfort up to a large terrarium. Place it on the substrate where the faces front the viewer, ring the base with stones for a rocky-mountain effect, and keep feeding spots clear. Clean with a damp cloth or a rinse, then air-dry before returning it.
About the landmark
Mount Rushmore National Memorial carries 18-metre granite heads of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Gutzon Borglum led the work from 1927 until his death in 1941, and his son Lincoln finished it. The original plan called for full torsos, but funding ran out and the heads are where it stopped. Around 450,000 tonnes of rock were removed, roughly 90% of it by dynamite and the rest by jackhammer.
Pairs well with
Quartz sand and decorative stones for the base, moss stones for a biotope look, and the rest of the landmark range — set it beside the Empire State Building miniature for a US-themed arena.
