Arena Terrarium XL

A thousand-strong colony tests every edge of its enclosure, and the airtight acrylic and snug tubing ports hold them. The same sealed build that stops escape-prone species keeps a busy colony from finding the one weak point a smaller, looser arena would give them, so the colony stays in and the room stays ant-free. The laser-cut micro-perforation lets air move through while the enclosure stays sealed, and that matters most at this volume, where more food and more workers mean more humidity to carry off, so the inside stays fresh and dry.

The XL is the piece that crowns a setup grown through several smaller stages, and the showpiece for schools and exhibitions. Run a tube from the nest, add the XL as the colony’s main outworld, and connect on to further modules through the 8 mm or 10 mm port — it makes a striking live display of a colony at full strength.

The XL is a blank canvas for a large planted landscape: a deep bed of sand or substrate, stones, cork bark, branches and broad cushions of moss give the colony real trails to lay down. Set drinkers and protein with sugar or ant jelly inside, and the colony forages as it would in the wild. The smooth acrylic wipes clean and stays clear; spot-clean leftovers and refresh the substrate to keep things mould-free. The sealed body and snug ports hold even tiny workers in.

A large modular nest or formicarium through the 8 mm or 10 mm port, drinkers and ant jelly for feeding, and quartz sand, stones, branches and moss to build a planted showpiece. For a smaller force, the L carries the same sealed design.

Will tiny ants escape from it?
No. Airtight acrylic and snug 8 mm / 10 mm ports hold Pharaoh ants, Solenopsis and other escape-prone species, even at full scale.

Can I use it without a nest?
Yes. It works standalone as a complete enclosure, or connected to a nest or formicarium as a modular outworld.

What size colony is it for?
Serious colonies of 1000+ workers, as well as educational and showpiece builds.

What can I keep inside it?
A deep substrate, stones, cork bark, branches and moss for a planted look, plus drinkers and food — it is the colony’s foraging and feeding space.
