Description
Wild ant nests are never grid-shaped, and neither is the Dragon. This large gypsum ant nest (20 × 20 × 7 cm) carves sculptural, irregular chambers that vary in shape, depth and size, echoing the underground architecture a colony digs for itself. Five humidity chambers, four-stage latch expansion and a 10 mm tubing port serve established colonies of 500–1200 workers, with the deep, even humidity cast gypsum holds.
Let your colony build like it would in the wild — order the Dragon.

Formicarium Dragon — a large gypsum ant nest with a wild, organic interior
No colony in nature digs a grid. They branch, taper and vary their chambers by need, and the Dragon is the one nest in the ANTonTOP large-format range built to match that. Its gypsum interior is sculptural and irregular — chambers that change in shape, depth and size across the 20 × 20 cm footprint — so a colony of 500–1200 workers can claim varied rooms for brood, food and quarters and build something close to a real underground nest. Five humidity chambers and four-stage latch control pair with the deep, even humidity gypsum provides. Acrylic body with cast-gypsum interior, 20 × 20 × 7 cm, made in Poland and shipped year-round with heat or cool packs and a live arrival guarantee.

Why the organic layout works
Give a colony irregular chambers and it behaves the way it would in soil, assigning rooms by purpose and shaping the nest to its own logic. The Dragon’s varied 10–15 mm chambers draw that natural behaviour out, so the result is as much a display as a home. Four-stage latch control keeps it practical: even at this size, keep the colony in as little space as possible at first and open the nest section by section as it grows into it. It suits an established mid-to-large colony of 500–1200 workers and the keeper who wants a colony to build like it would in the wild rather than fill a row of identical rooms, staying beginner-friendly to run despite its scale.
Humidity and care
Fill the five humidity chambers and the gypsum wicks moisture into the surrounding chambers, holding an even gradient the colony can choose from. Top up the water every few days; the stone keeps the climate stable with none of the condensation swings of sealed acrylic. Breathable gypsum and light airflow keep the nest fresh — avoid over-watering, clear leftover food promptly, and leave a waterer empty for a day if a chamber gets too damp.
Setup and escape protection
The Dragon arrives clean and ready. Rinse the gypsum, let it take up water, connect a tube if joining an outworld, and populate; no curing, no fuss. The fitted lid and arena walls keep workers contained; for tiny or climbing species, a thin band of anti-escape fluid around the arena rim adds extra security. The sliding partition closes the integrated arena off while you feed or maintain.
Pairs well with
A drinking dish or feeding plate keeps food off the substrate, protein and carbohydrate jelly covers balanced nutrition, and soft tweezers keep feeding clean. The 10 mm tube port connects a second arena or a modular nest from our formicaria range as the colony grows. Dress the integrated arena with sand, a stone or moss to complement the sculptural nest.
FAQ
What makes the Dragon special?
A sculptural, organic chamber layout that mimics wild nests — the most striking large gypsum nest we make.
How big a colony does it suit?
Roughly 500–1200 workers — established mid-to-large colonies.
How often do I add water?
Usually every few days; top up the five humidity chambers and let the gypsum spread the moisture.
What are the four latches for?
They open the nest in four stages so the colony is never given more space than it can manage.
Can I connect more space?
Yes — through the 10 mm tube port, add an arena or modular nest anytime.
How is it shipped?
Dispatched in 24 h from Poland with tracked EU and worldwide delivery, year-round with heat or cool packs and a live arrival guarantee.
