Description
Three latches where most small nests have two — that is what makes the Marble S the most controllable small gypsum nest in the ANTonTOP line (22 × 11 × 7 cm). Cast-stone walls breathe and hold deep, even humidity through four chambers, while the three sliding latches open the nest to a founding colony in fine steps. Built for moisture-loving small species and precise, low-stress growth.

Formicarium Marble S — the most controllable small gypsum ant nest
Staged expansion is the gentlest way to grow a colony, and this small gypsum ant nest gives you the finest steps of any small format we make. Three sliding latches — where most small nests stop at two — let you keep a young colony in an easy-to-manage space and open the nest a little at a time as numbers build. The Marble S (22 × 11 × 7 cm) pairs those latches with four humidity chambers, so the climate stays stable while you decide how much nest the colony can reach at each stage. Cast stone holds a deep, even humidity the way underground soil does, keeping damp-loving species comfortable without daily misting. Shipped from Poland across the EU, UK and worldwide.

Why three latches matter, and who it’s for
Dropping a queen and her first workers into a big empty box leaves them unable to keep it humid or clean, and too much space too soon shows as stress. Three latches avoid that: hold the colony in a small section, then open the nest in fine increments as it fills each one, which keeps the early stage cleaner and more humid than any single-step nest can. It suits founding colonies and small, humidity-loving species such as Lasius, Temnothorax, Camponotus founding queens and similar, plus any keeper who likes to manage growth precisely.
Humidity and care
Fill the four humidity chambers and the gypsum wicks moisture into the surrounding cells, holding an even gradient the colony can choose from, with damper brood chambers and drier living space. Top up the water every few days; the stone keeps the climate stable, with none of the condensation swings of sealed acrylic. Gypsum is sturdy and easy to wipe down: spot-clean the arena, clear leftover food promptly, leave a waterer empty for a day if a chamber gets too damp, and do not force the latches while the colony is active.
Setup and escape protection
The Marble S arrives clean and ready. Rinse the gypsum, let it take up water, connect a tube if joining an outworld, and populate; no curing, no fuss. The fitted lid and arena walls keep workers contained, and for tiny or climbing species a thin band of anti-escape fluid around the arena rim adds security. When the Marble S itself fills, connect a larger nest or an arena by tube so growth stays gradual.
Pairs well with
A drinking dish, protein and carbohydrate jelly food, and soft tweezers cover clean feeding. Dress the integrated arena with quartz sand, a decorative stone or some moss for a tidy foraging space. A tube connection links nests as the colony expands.
FAQ
How does the Marble S differ from the Pearl S?
An extra latch — three instead of two — for finer staged expansion. Both have four humidity chambers; the Marble S adds the third latch for keepers who want more precise, gradual access.
Is it good for a founding queen?
Yes. It is ideal for founding colonies and small, moisture-loving species, and the staged latches keep early growth low-stress.
How often do I add water?
Usually every few days. Top up the four humidity chambers and let the gypsum spread the moisture evenly.
Can I expand later?
Yes. Open the latches in stages as the colony fills each section, then connect a bigger nest or an arena by tube when the Marble S is full.
Can I choose the colour?
Colour and sticker ship assorted as standard. Leave a note at checkout or message us in advance and we’ll try to match a specific colour.
Do you ship outside Poland?
Yes. We dispatch within 24 h from Poland with tracked DHL across the EU and EMS worldwide, year-round with heat or cool packs and a live arrival guarantee.
