Description
Watch a colony move into the Ivory S and it sorts itself almost at once — brood in one room, food in another, the queen in a third. This compact gypsum ant nest (22 × 11 × 7 cm) is built around square box-rooms linked by short corridors, the layout zone-organising species take to fast. Two humidity chambers hold deep, even gypsum moisture; the 10–15 mm chambers fit most species, including medium Camponotus and large Messor.
Let your colony zone its own nest — order the Ivory S.

Formicarium Ivory S — a compact gypsum ant nest with a box-room layout
Introduce a colony to this compact gypsum ant nest and the box-room layout does half the work for you. Square, enclosed rooms joined by short corridors give the ants clearly separated spaces, and species that sort their nests into distinct zones — a brood chamber, a food store, the queen’s room, worker quarters — claim them straight away. The Ivory S measures 22 × 11 × 7 cm, with cast gypsum holding a deep, even humidity the way underground soil does. The 10–15 mm chambers fit most species, including medium Camponotus and large Messor, a strong choice for founding colonies and zone-organising species alike. Acrylic body, cast-gypsum interior, shipped from Poland with tracked EU and worldwide delivery.

Why the box-room layout works
Ant colonies are meticulous about keeping brood, food and waste apart, and defined rooms let them do it without effort. Instead of one open space, the Ivory S gives the colony separate chambers to assign, which keeps the nest tidy and makes colony life genuinely fun to watch, a living floor-plan rather than a single room. Start a young colony in part of the nest and let it spread into more as numbers grow, since a snug start means a cleaner, more humid nest.
Humidity and care
Fill the two humidity chambers and the gypsum wicks moisture into the surrounding rooms, holding an even gradient the colony can choose from. Top up the water every few days; the stone keeps the climate stable with none of the condensation swings of sealed acrylic. Avoid over-watering, clear leftover food promptly, and leave a waterer empty for a day if a room gets too damp. Spot-clean the arena and the breathable stone stays fresh.
Setup and escape protection
The Ivory S arrives clean and ready. Rinse the gypsum, let it take up water, connect a tube if joining an outworld, and populate — no curing, no fuss. The fitted lid and arena walls keep workers contained; for tiny or climbing species, a thin band of anti-escape fluid around the arena rim adds security. The sliding partition closes the integrated arena off while you feed or maintain.
Pairs well with
A drinking dish or feeding plate keeps food off the substrate, protein and carbohydrate jelly covers steady nutrition, and soft tweezers keep feeding clean. A tube connection adds an arena or links to a larger nest from our formicaria range as the colony grows. Dress the arena lightly with sand, a stone or moss — keep it easy to feed and clean.
FAQ
What is special about the box-room layout?
Enclosed, separate rooms let the colony assign zones — brood, food, queen — naturally, which keeps the nest tidy and fun to watch.
Is it good for a founding queen?
Yes — it is ideal for founding colonies and species that like structured spaces.
How often do I add water?
Usually every few days; top up the two humidity chambers and let the gypsum spread the moisture.
What species fit?
Most species, including medium Camponotus and large Messor, thanks to the 10–15 mm chamber height.
Can I expand later?
Yes — connect a larger nest or arena by tube when the colony fills the rooms.
How is it shipped?
Dispatched in 24 h from Poland with tracked EU and worldwide delivery, year-round with heat or cool packs and a live arrival guarantee.
