Description

A square grid of rooms gives the colony clean lines to organise from day one: brood here, food stores there, quarters apart. The Quad 10×10 cm suits the orderly, zone-keeping species especially well. Lockable nut-and-screw ports, a sponge chamber and 9 mm rooms hold up to ~350 Lasius, Tetramorium, Messor or smaller Camponotus, with a 20×10 version for when it outgrows this one.

Description

Modular Nest Quad 10×10 cm — square-grid acrylic ant nest for orderly colonies

This acrylic ant nest sets its rooms in a regular square grid, giving the colony clearly defined zones from the start: brood in one room, food stores in another, quarters apart. That structured layout suits species which naturally divide their nest into distinct sections. It’s part of the ANTonTOP modular range — acrylic modules you link into a setup that grows with the colony — made in Poland and shipped with tracked delivery across the EU, UK and worldwide.

Why the square-grid layout works

Ant colonies are meticulous organisers, keeping brood, food and waste apart, and a grid of separate rooms lets the colony assign those zones cleanly. That keeps the nest tidy and easy to read: at a glance you can see what the colony is doing and where. It’s a clean, classic look behind the acrylic, with a larger 20×10 version when the colony grows.

Who it’s for

The Quad fits a small to medium colony of up to about 350 workers, with 9 mm rooms that suit most popular species, among them Lasius, Tetramorium, Messor harvester ants and small to medium Camponotus. A great first acrylic nest, especially for orderly species, and a tidy module in a larger setup. The four lockable nut-and-screw entrances take standard tubing to arenas and other modules, so one nest expands into a custom formicarium as the colony grows, with no stressful full moves and no handling the queen. When the Quad fills, link another module or the larger 20×10 Quad and let the ants migrate across at their own pace.

Humidity and care

A single sponge chamber keeps the nest evenly moist. Refill it through the 3 mm syringe port once or twice a week; the water spreads passively through the sponge without reaching the living chambers, holding a steady level the colony can settle into. The smooth acrylic wipes clean and stays clear for viewing.

Setup and escape protection

Cap any unused entrances, run a tube to your access point, charge the sponge, and introduce the colony. The sealed acrylic body and locked ports keep workers where they belong.

Pairs well with

An ANTonTOP outworld or arena for foraging, a length of standard connection tubing, and a spare water-charged test tube for founding colonies. The 20×10 Quad or another 10×10 module extends the system through the same ports.

FAQ

What kind of colony is the grid best for?
Orderly, zone-keeping species do especially well in it: the regular square grid lets the colony assign brood, food and quarters to separate rooms and keep the nest tidy.

What’s the upgrade path?
The 20×10 Quad runs the same grid on a wider footprint for roughly 400 to 800 workers; connect it through the same ports when the colony outgrows the 10×10.

How many ants does it hold?
Up to roughly 350 workers.

Which species suit it?
The 9 mm rooms fit most popular species, Lasius and Tetramorium through to small and medium Camponotus; it especially suits orderly, zone-keeping ants.

How do I add water?
Through the 3 mm syringe port into the sponge chamber, once or twice a week.

Do you ship outside Poland?
Yes — tracked delivery across the EU, UK and worldwide, dispatched within 24 hours from Poland with heat or cool packs as the season needs.
