Description

Big carpenter ants need headroom, and most nests don’t give it. Breeding Kit 2 is hardware only, with no ants, built around the Formicarium Crystal (20×13 cm) and its tall 16 mm chambers, sized for Camponotus majors that reach 10–14 mm. Fully dressed: 2× quartz sand, decorative stones, four decorations, a feeder, jelly food and tweezers. A complete home for larger species, and you supply the colony. Made in Poland, part of the modular system.

Description

Breeding Kit 2 — a Crystal ant keeping hardware bundle (no colony) for large species

A Camponotus major can stand 10 to 14 mm tall, and a standard 9 mm nest leaves it crouching. Breeding Kit 2 solves that with the Formicarium Crystal and its tall 16 mm chambers, built so large carpenter-ant majors can move at full height. There is no colony in the box; it is a richly dressed hardware bundle ready for the big ants you supply. If you keep Camponotus or plan to catch one, this is the kit sized for them.

What’s in the kit

A real home built around the tall chamber

The number that counts is the 16 mm chamber height. Carpenter-ant majors are bulky, and in a short nest they jam and struggle to turn; the height lets them walk, carry and tend brood normally. Two humidification chambers hold moisture across the nest, two latches release the space in stages, and two 16 mm tubing ports connect an arena or further modules. The acrylic is the same 3 mm layered stock used across the ANTonTOP range, with real humidification and screw-locked access rather than a clip-on lid. Two bags of quartz sand and a bag of decorative stones build a textured floor, four decorations give cover, and the feeder with starter jelly food and the tweezers cover feeding — nothing else to order once the colony is in.

Who it’s for, and as a gift

This kit is for the keeper of larger ants who already has a queen, moved from a test tube or caught on a local flight, and wants a nest built for size. No queen yet? Pair it with a Camponotus colony from our species range, or take a complete kit with the colony, formicarium and food in one box. For a keeper set on showy carpenter ants, a proper size-matched home makes a gift that gets used from day one.

Setting up and feeding

Assemble the formicarium, moisten both humidification chambers, and lay a thin bed of the included sand across the arena with a few decorations and stones. Connect the arena to the nest where it applies, then introduce your queen or colony, keep things warm and quiet, and let them move across in their own time. Feed carpenter ants on protein plus the jelly food in the feeder, and when the colony needs a larger nest the 16 mm ports tie it into the rest of our modular system, such as the Ideal or Giant.

Delivery and live arrival guarantee

We ship year-round, packed to protect the acrylic and any substrate in transit. A tracking number goes out on dispatch day, and every part is checked before it leaves us; if anything arrives damaged, contact us and we will replace it.

FAQ

Why the tall 16 mm chamber?
Large Camponotus majors reach 10 to 14 mm and need the height to move and tend brood comfortably. The Crystal is built for them, where a shorter 9 mm nest is not.

Which species suit the Crystal?
Camponotus and other larger ants whose majors need a taller chamber. Smaller species do just as well in a 9 mm nest such as the Diamond.

Are ants included?
No. You get the formicarium, arena, sand, stones, feeder, jelly food and tweezers, but no colony. Add your own queen or buy one from our range.

I don’t have a queen yet — is that a problem?
No. Many keepers buy a breeding kit before flight season so the home is ready, or pair it with a live colony or a complete kit.

How long does delivery take?
1 to 2 days inside Poland (InPost); 2 to 3 days to Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium (DHL); 3 to 5 days to France and the rest of the EU; 5 to 9 days to the United Kingdom; worldwide tracked and quoted at checkout.

A note on care: each item is built for a specific job — please use it only as intended. Responsibility for correct, safe use rests with the keeper; ANTonTOP accepts no liability for misuse or damage from improper use.
