Athens Acropolis & Parthenon Temple Miniature — resin arena decoration for ant formicariums
The Parthenon is the most influential building of classical Greece, and at 7 × 5 × 2.5 cm this is one of the larger temple pieces we stock — a wide, columned silhouette that anchors a whole arena rather than decorating a corner. Rows of Doric columns front a flat roof, so the colony gets a colonnade to thread between and a broad flat top to rest on. The hand-painted finish reads like aged stone, and the resin is inert with no harmful coatings, safe for ants in direct contact.
What the colony does with it
Foragers climb on top, weave between the pillars and round the corners. Larger arboreal species like Camponotus and Polyrhachis tend to use it most, threading the colonnade and settling on the roof; smaller colonies mostly forage around it. The wide footprint makes it a centrepiece for a mid-size or larger arena, and it looks its best with white sand below the dark resin.
Fits your setup
Any arena 20 × 20 cm or larger takes it, from a compact Ziom or Comfort up to a large terrarium, with the broad form suiting wider layouts. Set it in a corner or centre-stage, bed the base lightly into the substrate, and leave foraging room around it. Clean with a damp cloth or a rinse under running water, then air-dry before returning it.
About the temple
The Parthenon was completed in 432 BC atop the Acropolis as a temple to the goddess Athena. Iktinos and Kallikrates designed it, with the sculptor Phidias overseeing the work, and its proportions set a standard for Western architecture that held for two and a half thousand years. The Doric columns, sculpted metopes and inner friezes are still the reference point for classical harmony.
Pairs well with
Quartz sand and decorative stones for the floor, moss stones for a biotope look, and the rest of the landmark range — add the Egyptian Pyramids, the Eiffel Tower or Big Ben across a larger arena to build a scene.
