When to Use 20 cm Tweezers
The 20 cm length is the most versatile size for general ant keeping. Long enough to reach comfortably into a 20×20 arena without disturbing the colony, short enough to retain control for precise placement. Use them for feeding (placing insect prey or food items into the arena), cleaning (removing food remains and dead workers), and arena work (moving decorations, repositioning hydration chambers, adjusting cotton).
For direct contact with living brood, switch to soft or ESD tweezers – these stainless precision tweezers are not designed for handling fragile brood.
How to Use Them
Hold the tweezers near the joint for the steadiest control and lower them into the arena from above, keeping your hand outside the enclosure. Use the straight tip to place food, lift out dead workers and prey shells, and reposition cotton or décor. Work slowly near active foragers so you do not trap a worker against the tip, and wipe the tip with alcohol when you finish.

Care & Maintenance
Wipe with isopropyl alcohol between species. Stainless steel tolerates boiling, dishwashers, and detergents. Store dry. The tweezers will last for many years of regular use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use these for brood handling?
Not recommended. The straight metal tip can damage larvae and pupae under normal grip pressure. For brood, use Soft Tweezers or Ultra-Soft instead.
Magnetic?
Slightly – stainless steel is weakly magnetic. Not an issue for ant keeping.
How do I sterilise?
Boil for 10 minutes or wipe down with isopropyl alcohol. Both work. Boiling is more thorough; alcohol is faster.
