Description
Big workers need height, and a big foraging force needs floor space. The Giant L (25 × 12 × 15 cm) gives both: 16 mm chambers that clear large Camponotus and Messor majors, plus an XXL 25 × 12 × 8 cm arena where a colony of 1,000–1,800 workers can run organised trails. This is the nest you move a thriving colony into once it has earned the room, and feeding a society this size is something to see.

Formicarium Giant L — a professional acrylic ant nest with an XXL arena for large colonies
A mature colony asks for two things an average nest can’t supply: tall chambers for its biggest workers and an arena large enough for an organised foraging force. The Giant L (25 × 12 × 15 cm) is built around that pairing. The 16 mm chambers clear large Camponotus and Messor majors, and the XXL 25 × 12 × 8 cm arena gives 1,000–1,800 workers somewhere to spread out, recruit and run real trails. Laser-cut from 3 mm acrylic in Poland and shipped year-round with heat or cool packs and a live arrival guarantee.

Why the XXL arena works
The arena is the headline. Give a large colony that much open floor and the foraging behaviour changes: workers fan out, scouts lay trails, and recruitment columns form to carry food back to the nest, all in clear view. Behind that, the 16 mm chambers take the largest workers without crowding their brood, so the Giant L fits a large, established colony of 1,000–1,800 workers and big-bodied species such as large Camponotus and Messor majors. Professional-scale but still beginner-friendly to run, it works best with the numbers to fill it, so move a mature colony in once it has them; if yours is still climbing, keep it in part of the nest and open the rest as the worker force grows. Feeding a colony this size is something to see.
Humidity and care
Add water to the internal sponge system through the 3 mm port with a syringe once or twice a week and it spreads by capillary action between the layered sheets, giving the colony an even gradient to choose from without ever wetting the ants. Top up before the sponge dries and avoid flooding; a large nest only stays fresh when the watering is measured. Laser-cut micro-perforations keep passive airflow constant, so clear leftover food promptly to head off condensation and mold.
Setup and escape protection
The Giant L arrives clean and ready. Peel the protective film from both faces for clear walls, connect a tube if you are joining an outworld, fill the humidity chamber and populate. The fitted lid and arena walls hold workers in; for tiny or climbing species, a thin band of anti-escape fluid around the arena rim adds security.
Pairs well with
Drinking dishes for a big foraging force, protein and carbohydrate jelly for balanced feeding, soft tweezers for brood and food, and a syringe for watering. Tubing links a second arena or another nest from our formicaria range as the colony grows. Dress the large arena with sand, stones or moss, keeping the paths clear so feeding and cleaning stay easy.

Ordered to Spain and it arrived very fast and spent around 30 minutes to mount it, but it was worth it. Arena is really big and very cool. I put there my lovely camponotus nicobarensis colony and they feel very well! Thank you for perfect color as well

I ordered the Formicarium Giant two weeks ago – shipping was fast, and assembly took only about half an hour. The XXL arena is truly spacious; my Camponotus colony settled in quickly and seems very comfortable. Highly recommend for those who want both size and quality in one product
