Description

Light green quartz sand for soft, natural ant arenas

Not every floor should compete for attention. Light green is the quiet one: a pale pastel that adds a hint of green without taking over, so white architecture and pale decor stay in the lead. It is inert silica quartz, dyed with non-toxic colour and washed clean, with a very fine grain of roughly 0.01–0.05 mm (well under 1 mm). It comes in an 8×4×2 cm bag and ships from Poland across the EU, UK and worldwide.

What light green does in an arena

This is one of 13 colours in the range, and the softest of the greens. The colour is fixed to each grain rather than loosely coated, so spraying or rinsing won’t wash it into the water dish or stain the acrylic. As true quartz it holds a sculpted surface and does not break down with handling. The gentle tone suits understated, airy designs where the floor sets a calm mood rather than a statement.

Who it’s for

Keepers who want subtle colour over a bold one — soft natural scenes, gentle biotopes and minimalist displays. It makes a calm backdrop for white miniatures and pale decor, and a softer alternative to vivid grass green.

How to use it

Pour a 1–2 cm layer across the floor, level it dry, and build decor on top. Tunnelling species such as Messor, Lasius and Formica work fine quartz much as they would natural sand, so a deeper bed gives visible burrowing. Pair it with white architecture for a soft natural look, or layer it over grass green for a meadow gradient.

Pairs well with

White decorative stones and white architectural miniatures for a soft natural scene, grass-green quartz for a meadow gradient, and moss stones for texture. Add miniature trees for a gentle woodland look.

FAQ

Is the colour safe for ants?
Yes. It is inert quartz with a non-toxic colourant, fixed to the grain and safe in direct contact.

Will it bleed if the arena is sprayed?
No. The colour is bonded to each grain, so misting or rinsing won’t tint the water or acrylic.

Can I mix it with natural sand?
Yes. Blending with natural beige sand makes the pastel even softer.

Will ants tunnel in it?
Most digging species — Messor, Lasius, Formica — tunnel in it much as they do in natural sand.

How is it different from grass green?
Light green is a pale, gentle pastel for a subtle background; grass green is a vivid, saturated meadow tone.
