The XL suits established, populous colonies, larger arenas and high-traffic outworlds where a smaller dish empties too fast and needs constant topping up. It works for the full range of kept species. If you keep a thirsty species or simply want fewer daily refills, this is the size.

Stand the bowl in a corner, away from the nest entrance, so spills stay clear of the brood. Fill with clean water for daily drinking, or use it for sugar water, diluted honey or liquid jelly. Even with the larger capacity, rinse and refill regularly to keep the liquid fresh and head off mould or fermentation. No cotton or pebble is needed, though you can add one for the very smallest species.

It sits naturally alongside our jellies, honey and protein foods for a complete feeding station, and beside the smaller acrylic bowls for a second water point or to separate water from liquid food. Stand it on a firm quartz-sand or decorative-stone floor so it stays level.

Rinse under running water between refills and clean more thoroughly when residue builds up. Avoid abrasive scourers that could scratch the clear surface. Let it dry or refill straight away. A basic rinse keeps it clear and hygienic long term.

Will small ants drown in it?
No. Despite the larger size, the shallow walk-in shape lets even the smallest workers step in, drink and climb out.

Can I use it for food as well as water?
