Description

A colony of a few hundred workers starts to crowd its entrance, and the traffic only builds from there. Sized for 400 to 800 workers, the Modular Arena 20×10 cm adds a clear acrylic floor for foraging and feeding so that congestion eases off. It clips onto 20×10 nests via six lockable nut-and-screw entrances and a 10 mm port, and micro-perforation keeps it airy while holding the colony inside. Dimensions 20×10×10 cm, made in Poland.

Description

Modular Arena 20×10 cm — clear acrylic foraging outworld for colonies of ~400–800 workers

As the mid-size step in the ANTonTOP modular system, this clear acrylic arena is the outworld that ties into the nest and gives a growing colony somewhere to hunt, carry food and explore. It measures 20×10×10 cm and matches the 20×10 modular nests, so colonies of roughly 400–800 workers get a proportionate, escape-resistant place to stay active. Six lockable nut-and-screw entrances, a 10 mm tubing port and laser-cut micro-perforation let it drop straight into a modular build. Shipping leaves Poland year-round with heat or cool packs and a live-arrival guarantee, across the EU, the UK and worldwide.

Why add an arena

Ants keep foraging, feeding and waste-dumping away from the brood, and an arena hands them that separate room while keeping the nest clean, dry and open to watch. It earns its place once numbers reach a few hundred: foraging traffic climbs, and a roomier outworld stops the ants queuing at the nest entrance, which keeps the colony as a whole calmer.

How the modular system grows

Every part of the range connects through the same standard lockable ports, so you tube it to the nest, add modules as the colony expands, and build a layout of your own without any stressful full move. The 10 mm port lines up with the 20×10 nest range and carries the link on to further modules. Once the colony climbs past a thousand workers, the 20×20 arena extends this very system.

Setup and escape protection

Smooth acrylic walls plus nut-and-screw entrance caps keep the colony where it belongs. Cap off the ports you are leaving idle, tube the ones you want live, and the arena stays sealed. Laser-cut micro-perforation draws air through without opening a route for the smallest workers, which keeps the space dry and holds mould back. A light rim barrier of PTFE or talc adds insurance against determined climbers.

Decorate and feed

This is the part left to you. A layer of sand, a scatter of stones, some cork bark or a cushion of moss turns the arena into a natural landscape with plenty to climb over. It is also the feeding station: set down a drinker, a little protein and some sugar or ant jelly, and watch the foragers carry it home. Clear away leftovers now and then so the space stays fresh — the smooth acrylic wipes clean and stays clear.

Pairs well with

A 20×10 modular nest, connecting tubing, a drinker and ant jelly for feeding, and sand, stones or moss to decorate. As the colony grows past a thousand workers, the 20×20 arena extends the same modular system.

FAQ

What does an arena do?
It is the foraging and feeding space outside the nest, where the colony hunts, eats and dumps waste, which keeps the nest clean and dry.

Which nest does this arena fit?
It is sized for 20×10 modular nests and connects to any ANTonTOP modular nest through a standard tube.

How do I stop ants escaping?
Close unused ports with their nut-and-screw caps (a screwdriver is handy here); smooth acrylic walls and micro-perforation venting do the rest, with a light rim barrier for determined climbers.

What size colony is it for?
Colonies of roughly 400–800 workers. For larger, established colonies, step up to the 20×20 arena.

Do you ship outside the EU?
Yes. We dispatch from Poland with tracked delivery across the EU, the UK and worldwide.

A note on care: each item is built for a specific job — please use it only as intended. Responsibility for correct, safe use rests with the keeper; ANTonTOP accepts no liability for misuse or damage from improper use.
