Formicarium TerraCore Pro XL – a deeper DigFix nest the colony digs itself
TerraCore Pro XL is the extended version of the TerraCore Pro, built around the same DigFix natural digging system but with far more substrate to work with. At 7 cm deep – more than double the Pro’s 3 cm – the colony can excavate deeper tunnels, more complex chamber systems, and keep developing without running out of digging space. The integrated arena is wider too, for the heavier foraging of a larger colony. Escape-resistant acrylic frame, made in Poland.

A colony digs as much as it needs. A smaller colony will start with a modest network and extend it downward as it grows – the deep DigFix layer always has room for more.
How the DigFix digging system works
Before introducing the colony, wet the DigFix substrate thoroughly. The damp, porous medium is soft enough to excavate yet holds its shape, so the colony digs a stable, deep tunnel network exactly the way it wants.
How humidity works
The DigFix substrate holds the moisture – re-wet it as it dries through the service lid or port, and the damp medium keeps the deep tunnels humid from the inside, no separate sponge needed.
Ventilation and mold prevention
The arena and frame allow steady airflow. Keep the substrate damp but not waterlogged, remove leftover food promptly, and the nest stays fresh.
Escape protection
The escape-resistant acrylic frame and dual-lid keep the colony secure, with a service lid for feeding and watering without opening the whole nest.
