Description
Undecided which Type 2 to begin with? Start with the Medium. At roughly 3 × 3 cm it splits the difference — compact enough for a young setup, generous enough to keep a busy colony watered. This shallow 3D-printed dish has a textured floor that grips callow workers and a film of water held by surface tension. It doubles as a feed dish for sugar water, diluted honey or liquid jelly. Colours are assorted, so the shade may differ from the photo.
Hydrate your colony the safe, mess-free way.

Drinking Bowl Type 2 Medium — 3D-printed ant water and feed dish (≈3 × 3 cm)
The Type 2 Medium is the one most keepers pick up first — roughly 3 × 3 cm and 3D-printed. It supplies a colony with clean water while sidestepping both the drowning risk of a deep cup and the mould of a wet cotton plug. Workers step over the low rim, walk down the sloped walls to drink and stroll back out, and the size lands right in the middle: compact enough for a young setup, generous enough to keep a busy colony going. Made in Europe and shipped from Poland with tracked EU, UK and worldwide delivery.

Why the textured walk-in floor works
The water sits as a shallow film held by surface tension, with a textured 3D-printed floor that gives even tiny callow workers a grip on the way out, which smooth glass never does.
Who it’s for
The Medium fits most standard arenas and growing colonies, and it is the first size most keepers buy. Run the Small (≈2 × 2 cm) alongside it for test tubes and founding colonies, or step up to the Large (≈4 × 4 cm) for heavy drinkers and bigger outworlds.
How to use it
Stand the bowl in a corner, away from the nest entrance, so the colony’s living area stays dry. Fill with clean water for daily hydration, or use it for sugar water, diluted honey or melted liquid jelly. Rinse and refill every couple of days. It is fully reusable.
Pairs well with
Set a cup of Flavoured Ant Jelly beside it for carbohydrate and add Blanched Whole Crickets or Cricket Jam for protein to build a one-corner feeding station. The Small and Large Type 2 dishes and our round drinking bowls cover your other setups.
FAQ
Will small ants drown in it?
No. The shallow floor and sloped walls let even the smallest workers step in, drink and climb out.
Can I use it for food too?
Yes — sugar water, diluted honey and liquid jelly all work. For solid jelly cups, set the cup beside or on top.
How does Medium compare to the other sizes?
Medium (≈3 × 3 cm) is the everyday all-rounder. Small (≈2 × 2 cm) suits founding colonies and tight spaces; Large (≈4 × 4 cm) suits established colonies and bigger arenas.
Why might the colour differ from the photo?
We print these in assorted colours and ship what is in stock. The shade varies; the performance does not.
Is the plastic ant-safe?
Yes, a durable ant-safe plastic. Give it a rinse before first use.
How do I keep it clean?
Rinse under warm water and wipe out residue. Skip harsh detergents, or rinse thoroughly if you use any.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes. Dispatched from Poland within 24 hours with tracked EU, UK and worldwide delivery.
A note on care: each item is built for a specific job — please use it only as intended. Responsibility for correct, safe use rests with the keeper; ANTonTOP accepts no liability for misuse or damage from improper use.
