About This Landmark

Buddha statues have been carved across Asia for over 2,000 years, depicting Siddhartha Gautama – the historical Buddha who lived in northern India in the 6th–5th century BC. The seated meditation pose (dhyana mudra) shown in this miniature is one of the most common – used in temples from Sri Lanka through Tibet, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and Japan. Each region developed its own stylistic conventions, but the seated, eyes-half-closed, hands-on-lap pose is universal.

When to Use

Place in the open arena. It works in arenas of all sizes – even compact acrylic setups like the Ziom or Comfort, right up to large terrariums. Larger colonies often adopt it as a route or perch.
