Description

Lady Liberty, torch up, standing 7.5 cm tall over your colony. This hand-finished resin landmark is 2 × 2 × 7.5 cm — tall and slim, so it claims height without eating floor space. Cast in inert resin, it’s safe for ants to climb the pedestal, scale the robe and perch on the torch.

Description

Statue of Liberty miniature — resin landmark decoration for ant arenas and formicariums

Of all our landmarks, this is the tall one. At 2 × 2 × 7.5 cm the Statue of Liberty reads as a slim vertical spire rather than a block, drawing the eye upward while leaving most of the arena floor open for foraging, a drinker and a feeding spot. The robe, the raised torch and the pedestal are detailed enough that you recognise Bartholdi’s figure at a glance, so it works as a display piece as much as a climbing structure. The resin is inert and waterproof — the two properties that actually matter in a humid outworld with a live colony.

What the colony does with it

Ants read raised, textured objects as terrain. The folds of the robe give grip, the pedestal makes a base camp, and the torch becomes a lookout for scouts when the colony is active. Tall arboreal species like Camponotus and Polyrhachis tend to claim the high points; strictly ground-foraging colonies will mostly pass around the base. Either way it gives the scene a clear sense of scale next to the workers.

Fits your setup

Any arena 20 × 20 cm or larger suits it, from a compact acrylic Ziom or Comfort up to a planted terrarium. Bed the base lightly into the substrate so the tall figure stands steady, and leave climbing room around it. It looks best with contrast — dark resin over pale quartz sand, or the reverse. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth, or rinse under running water and air-dry before it goes back.

About the landmark

France gave the statue to the United States to mark American independence. Bartholdi designed it; Gustave Eiffel — yes, the tower’s Eiffel — engineered the internal frame. Inaugurated on Liberty Island in 1886, the copper figure stands 46 m on a 47 m pedestal, the tablet under its left arm carrying July 4, 1776 in Roman numerals.

Pairs well with

Quartz sand and decorative stones for the floor, moss stones for a biotope look, and the rest of the landmark range for a city-themed arena.
